Which sibling is your favorite? Believe it or not this is a question I have been asked before. So, I have finally decided to answer the question.
You are all my favorites. Yes, all seven of you!
Zeke; You used to be the oldest sibling. Then, I came along and took that role from you. You didn’t seem to mind that at all. Instead you loved me like you have known me all your life. I barely knew any English when I came home, but you helped me with school and made sure I was doing okay. I hated math and also struggled with it, but you helped me with that too. You have the biggest heart Zeke. You love your family and those around you so well. I can always tell you anything. Coming to your baseball and basketball games was one of my favorite things to do. I was always so proud of you for working so hard in both sports. But, I was more proud of the way you treated and respected your teammates and coaches. I don’t know if you know this, but I look up to you so much. You inspire me to work hard for the things I want and need. You inspire me to love those around me. You encourage me to have confidence in myself and to know my worth. I have loved watching you grow from a little 12 years old Zeke that used to be my height to a 20 year old 6’4” man that loves the Lord. You have so much potential and I am so lucky and blessed to be your older sister. You are my best friend and always will be.
Getch: Kid, we have been through so much together. You used to annoy me so much during school. Making me mad was I think one of your favorite things to do. But, what are little brothers for right? You know how to make people laugh so it was really hard to stay mad at you for more than a couple of minutes. You are silly, but respectful. You are a hard working man and I really admire that about you. Sometimes I get a little jealous of your dreadlocks, sorry. In all seriousness, you are my best friend Getch. I have enjoyed watching you grow and be where you are now. As your older sister, sometimes I wish you didn’t have to experience the things we have experienced such as losing a loved once etc.. but, God used all that for our own good. You are a strong young man and I am so proud of the man you’re becoming.
Charlie; You are just so cool. You are so wise and I don’t even know how it is possible for someone so young to be as wise as you are man. I love your passion for movies, music and books. Most importantly I love your passion for the Lord. It seems like forever ago we just met in Ethiopia. Man, how the time flies. Charlie, I know anytime I need an advice I could come to you because I know you will always tell me the truth in love. You have one of the most creative minds I know. You can do anything you set your mind to (okay, okay, I haven’t seen you fly yet), but that’s beside the point. You inspire me to be my unique self. Just like I said to Zeke and Getch, you’re my best friend and will always be. I am the luckiest older sister ever to have someone as awesome as you to look up to.
Anna; Anna Banana, I just love you so much. You’re so unique and probably one of the strongest 15 years old girl I have ever met. You are kind and gentle. I love the love you have for horses and animals in general. In some ways I think we are pretty similar. You’re quiet, but sometimes sassy just like me. I love you more than you will ever know. Quite honestly, it is very hard to imagine my life without you.
Masi; You have changed so much (in a good way). You used to be so shy. But, now I see how you have changed. You’re still sweet and kind but I have loved watching you grow more in confident every day. You are a very talented girl. I think we both have a personality that wants to please others. While that isn’t necessarily a bad thing, I want you to know that it is also okay to voice your opinions and tell people what you want/need. I love you, Masi.
Feven; You are sassy, confident and smart. I never imagined we would be sisters. But, I am so thankful God allowed us to be sisters. Having you around encourages me to have more confidence in myself. As sassy as you are, you also love people and care for them. I am excited to watch you grow. I am excited to see what the lord has for you in store. I love you so much, Feven Hope!
Nati; I remember you when you were just a little kid. I remember how you cried every time you woke up from a nap. I remember how much you hated taking a shower. That just all seems so long ago. But, now you’re 11 and it is very hard to believe that sometimes. You are growing so fast. Sometimes you annoy me a little, but I kinda love it. I am so glad I get to be your sister. See you in four months little buddy! I love you more than you love beef jerky.
No matter what part of the world I am in, at the end of the day you guys are all I have got. I love you all equally. You’re all my favorites for different reasons. You have all taught me so much in life. Being away for this long from you guys has been one of the hardest things I have ever done. But, how lucky am I to have 7 best friends for life?! How lucky am I to have someone I could miss? I can’t wait to see you all soon. In the meantime, know that I love you very much.
Okay, I can stop crying now.
