Being sick sucks. It sucks a little more when you’re halfway around the world from home, in a place where the food, drink, medicine, beds, and bathrooms are unfamiliar. I won’t go into details of how sick I was, other than to say that I was in a lot of discomfort, but didn’t have to go to the hospital (thankfully). My best guess is that I just picked up a nasty stomach bug, that took the better part of a week to run its course. I felt very week for a couple days, and barely ate anything. But, thanks to Mama Jo (one of our hosts), I was well taken care of. I am now feeling much better, but still not 100%.
Because of being sick, I haven’t helped much with ministry this week, which has been rough. It’s hard just sitting around when my team is hard at work, but they have been super caring while I have been sick. Monday through Thursday they continued our manual labor from last week, continuing to help moving the snack shack.
On Friday and Saturday we got to go to a different town, to a place where our pastor’s family owns some land. There, we took a hike to several beautiful waterfalls, and got to swim in a few places. The water was cool and clear, and it felt amazing to swim. The natural beauty here is astounding, and I can’t wait to explore more places.
Being able to serve here in The Philippines is a huge blessing that wouldn’t be possible without all of my support back home. Thank you so much to everyone who reads my blog, and everyone who prays for me. This week I ask that you pray for my physical health. I am still recovering from my sickness, and I still feel weak. Also, please pray for my teammates; Kaitlin Gonzalez and Kaitlyn Crosby. They still need some additional donations to be fully funded. If you feel led to donate to them, you can access their blogs at the left of this page. Thank you guys so much, and God Bless!
