You know those annoying “tag” video, blogs, FB posts that are going around everywhere? Yeah, I’m about to do one of those. I thought it would be fun to do a little “get to know me” survey since some of you probably have no clue who I am.
1. What’s your whole name?
Linda Sierra Smith. I go by middle name though and this usually confuses people. I never realized how odd it is to go by a middle name rather than a first.
2. Are you named after anyone?
Yes. My mom decided to name me after my grandma Linda when she passed away while my mom was pregnant with me. My mom had intended to name me Allison Sierra Smith and thank goodness she didn’t; I would have been the butt of every joke
3. Do you have any siblings?
I have one brother who is four years older than me. He goes by his middle name too.
4. Where did you grow up?
I was born in Virginia but mostly raised in West Virginia.
5. What activities did you do in high school?
I wasn’t very involved at my high school. I was a part of yearbook and prom committee my junior year. I was big on youth group! I was on the youth praise and worship team at my church all through high school!
6. Where did you go to college?
I attended one year at a local college before transferring to Liberty University online.
7. What activities did you do in college?
My classes are online so I don’t really have any college activities.
8. What did you study in college?
I am majoring in Crisis Counseling with a minor in Christian Counseling. I may end up with a double major of Crisis and Christian counseling by the time I graduate.
9. What was your first job out of college?
I’m still in college. My first job ever was a sales associate job at JcPenny.
10. What kind of music do you like?
I listen to mostly contemporary Christian.
11. What’s one hobby that you’d like to take up?
I would love to play an instrument. I’ve tried learning piano but my mind just can’t seem to comprehend it
12. What did you think you wanted to be when you grew up?
You know in kindergarten when the teacher has you write down what you want to be when you grow up so they can hang it up on the class bulletin board? Yeah, my answer was missionary. Mission work has always had a special place in my heart and I am so excited to finally be answering this call God has on my life!
13. What’s the biggest project on your to-do list right now?
Definitely the World Race. There’s so much to do, it’s crazy!
14. Do you have any irrational fears?
Some may say that my fear of lady bugs is irrational. I argue that it isn’t. This whole fear originated from my MiMi telling me about her neighbor that had a lady bug crawl into his ear and how he could hear it buzzing and moving around. Ever since then I have been terrified of the same thing happening to me.
I also have a fear of water; I can’t stand having water in my face. Period. I feel like there is some childhood trauma linked to that, that my mom just hasn’t told me about.
15. Have you ever traveled outside the country? If so, where and when?
I have never traveled outside of the United States. Of course, this will change in August 2018!
16. When’s your next vacation and where are you going?
I don’t have a next vacation planned.
17. Do you speak any other languages?
No. Unless being fluent in The Office quotes counts.
18. What’s one talent that you wish you had?
Is not procrastinating a talent? I always tell myself I’m going to stay on schedule with my school work and not procrastinate; maybe one day this will actually be true.
19. What’s something that you wish you did more of?
Read. I love to read but lately the only reading I’ve gotten done is from my psychology textbooks
20. If you weren’t working toward your current degree, what would you want to be doing?
I would love to be a full time missionary (though I’m sure my mom would have an aneurysm if I did this.) I would still get the degree I am working on now though. Overall, if I am helping people and I’m in God’s will I’ll be happy!
That’s it! Since this is a tag survey, I tag all of my fellow August 2018 racers!
Sierra Smith
