In elementary school I remember running out to get the best swing when the bell rang. Pump until you are so high you might be able to swing over the top! And just when you are high enough you jump, You go flying across the air trying to get further than any of the other kids can get! There is no better feeling than seeing how far you jumped!
Community has never been something I have been apart of. And if I was a part of it, it wasn't because I wanted to be. I've actually spent most of my life avoiding community.
Boy was I in for a real surprise coming on the World Race! Lets be really honest, living in one room with 16 other girls is hard…. Really hard! I wake up and as soon as I open one eye someone is talking to me, in the shower I hear people talking next to me, breakfast is one giant table, ministry all day together, Dinner all together, and then we hop into our giant family bed! (7 bunk beds all pushed together)
Where is Sierra time? Good question! Being introverted, Sierra time has to show its face often! Well today I found it on the swing with my head phones on!
As I sit here and swing I realize that learning to live in community is just like jumping off the swing. There is a moment of hesitation before you jump. As your flying through the air sometimes it might be scary. But when you finally land it's totally worth the flight!
Community living may not always be the easiest thing to do…. or even the most enjoyable, but it is something that I know God wants for me to experience!
I'm finally high enough to jump! Come on God! Off to community living we go!
