When I was 12 or 13 years old I saw a movie called Ellen Foster. It was the story of a little girl who desperately wanted to belong to a family that would shower her with love. Her mother had died and her father was an abusive alcoholic that her maternal grandmother hated which caused her to be very mean toward Ellen as well. A teacher found out about Ellen’s situation and took her into her home. Ellen’s biological family and the teacher ended up going to court to fight over custody. I have never forgotten the judge’s words. He said, “Family is the cornerstone of society,” and awarded custody to her hateful grandmother.

“Family is the cornerstone of society.”

That was the seed God used to awaken me to my purpose. Since then, almost everything I have done has connected to that one statement in some way. But, that statement was rooted in the judge’s conviction. What has God called me to in this season and life as a whole?
