I am now in Chiang Mai, Thailand which happens to be one of the coolest places I’ve ever been in my life. I’ve gotten to zip-line in the jungle, and try some of the best food I’ve ever eaten in my life. I’ve also been blessed with the task of cleaning up and refurbishing a building that will be used as a school for elementary kids. I’m having a lot of fun here, but one thing has really stood out to me since I’ve gotten here and that’s the power of obedience.
I’ve seen God do some incredible things. I’ve seen salvations and real genuine worship. I’ve seen break-throughs and true freedom. I’ve even seen healings occur. All of these amazing things have happened as a result of the same act — the act of obedience. God doesn’t need our wisdom, talents, gifts, strengths or even our confidence to make something happen. As a matter of fact he wants us to be less confident in our flesh and more confident in him. He just needs us to say yes and be willing to act. Once you do that, God will fill in the areas you’re not so confident in. Trust me, before I joined the World Race I had never so much as lead a single worship song in my entire life. I didn’t even know any, but I was blessed with the role of being a worship coordinator for my squad. Since that’s happened, I’ve gotten to see God’s Holy Spirit move through people like I’ve never seen before. I’ve played guitar, and sang, and I’ve gotten to facilitate some of the most unbelievable worship sessions I could ever imagine. In the midst of all this I realized that God didn’t need me to impress anyone with talent, he just needed me to do what he’s called me to do. He did the rest. It’s really that simple.
So I challenge anyone who reads this to say yes to the Lord, and be obedient even if it seems scary or challenging. I’ve never regretted sharing the Gospel with someone I didn’t know. I’ve never regretted praying for someone whom I’ve never met before. I’ve never regretted getting in front of my squad and leading worship. Because every time I act in obedience to the Lord’s call, I know I’ve done exactly what I was born to do. That will give you peace like you could not imagine. I now know this from experience. So, say yes to God today and see what happens. I dare yah.
