This month our team has been working with pastor Joseph Kakande and his wife Freda. They are the pastors of Christ Ambassadors church in Mukono Uganda. They started this church 10 years ago.
Both the pastor and his wife have a love for children and they have taken in numerous children over the years to give them love and a home. They have also been wonderful parents to us this month while we are working with them. We have been able to see the fruit of their labor as many of the children that they loved and nurtured have become adults and are now leaders in the church and translators for teams like ours that come to share the love of Jesus with the local people.
Several years ago, God gave Joseph and Freda a vision to open a school. They named it Champions Christian School because they believe there is a champion in every one of these kids. So now there is a school between two local villages in Mukono where children can get a quality education and be loved and encouraged and also learn about Jesus from a young age. Just last week the national exam results came back and the majority of the students at Champions excelled in their grades! This was such a blessing and confirmation of God’s hand on this school.
The only problem is that many of these families lack the funding to pay the $25 a month school fees. For a total of $250 ($25/mo for 10 months) a child can receive a quality education, their uniforms and one meal a day for their entire school year.
