If i wasn't already sure…. now I know i'm not in America anymore!
Today I got to be a nurse 🙂
I really love being a nurse… I love taking care of people and I like when I can be useful. Today Grayson woke up with a stomach bug. It progressively got worse as the day went along. (I wanted to call Debbie for my phone nurse advice! ha), but I made the decision that we should take him to the hospital, so after our last village for the day we headed back for the hour long ride to town to find a doctor.
We found a Christian "hospital". I believe he was an orthopedic doctor but any doctor was better than no doctor at this point. I won't go in to details of what all transpired at the hospital but lets just say that it is VERY different than what I'm used to. Grayson got an IV, some IV antibiotics and 2 shots for his stomach bug. But the best part was after his IV fluids were finished the Doctor was taking a break and invited us next door to his house for chai tea. Some days I just have to smile that this is my life. Never in America would the Doctor invite you for tea after discharging you from his care. And not only did he just invite us for tea He had his nurse come over and serve it to us. (Talk about continuity of care. ha.) Then we sang hymns! What?! #1. I'm singing American hymns in English like the ones I grew up singing in church. and #2. We are at an Indian Doctors house that we just met praising the Lord over cookies and chai tea. I'm amazed at my life some days! After that we read psalm 34 out loud together and prayed before leaving. It was such a refreshing time.
All in all… besides Grayson not feeling well it was a wonderful day and it was a huge reminder of the fact that I am a million miles away from what I'm used to.
