Welcome To My World Race Blog!
This has been a long time coming, and I am so excited to finally get to share this journey with you! Some of you might be thinking, "What is the World Race?" Great question! The World Race is a short term mission project in which young adults travel to a new country each month for 11 months. Once in the country, we partner with a local ministry to serve in their greatest area of need. This can look radically different in each country. This can vary from task such as building schools, orphanages, and churches to teaching in the schools. This can also look like working in the orphanages or ministering to the prostitutes in the Red Light District. Honestly, we will most likely not know what our ministry will be for the month until we meet our contact for the month. What we do know, however, is that we will be coming of love ready to serve wherever needed.
Every time I explain that to someone I get the normal stream of questions: "Are you sure you know what you're getting yourself into?" "Don't you know the risks?" "The world is a scary place." "Are you crazy?" I've heard questions like these and many more. Yes, I do know the risks. There are huge risks involved. I will be traveling into some of the darkest places in the world, but the truth is that I was made for such a time as this. Isaiah 6:2 says, "See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you." My team is going out truly bringing the news that is GOOD. We are bringing news of a God that is real with a love that is tangible. I am so excited to start on this amazing journey with him and watch as he blows our mind with his outrageous love.
My race route includes Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Botswana, Swaziland, and South Africa. We are scheduled to launch in July of 2014. This has been something the Lord has placed on my heart way back in December of 2012 (I will go in more detail in future blogs!), so moving forward with this is thrilling! Please subscribe to my blog to stay informed with what God is doing along the way! I look forward to sharing in this. Remember, as family and friends, my spoils are your spoils!
Zechariah 2:11, "Many nations will be joined with the LORD in that day and will become my people. I will live among you and you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me to you."
