Thank you for considering supporting me on this new and exciting endeavor! There are many ways in which you can play a part in supporting me. First and most importantly, I need a group of intercessors to prayerfully lift my team and me up each day. I am looking for individuals who will commit to join with me in declaring God's heart over us each and every day. I will send emails before launch and from the field with personal struggles, victories, and other things that you may not find here on the blog. This is to keep the people praying informed on areas that need prayer. If you do not feel called to make that commitment but you would still like to cover us in prayer, THANK YOU. We always need more prayer and support!
Secondly, I need financial support. The trip cost is $15,500 paid to my support account with Adventures in Missions (AIM). In addition to the cost of the trip, my travel insurance amount will need to be paid through AIM bringing the total of what I need to raise with AIM to $16, 285. The deadlines for these are as follows:
*May 2, 2014- I need $3,500 raised by this date! (This does not include the money needed for equipment and other supplies listed below.)
*June 20, 2014- I need $7,500 raised by this date to launch.
*October 1, 2014- I need $11,000 raised by this date (This is 3 months after launch).
*By JAN 1st, 2015 I must be fully funded ($16,285)
In addition to these costs, I will need money for equipment, spending money while on the field, and student loan payments while I am gone. I am estimating the cost of equipment to be around $2,000. This includes a full 65 L pack, a sleeping bag, a tent, a day pack, a nice sleeping pad (as it will be my bed for the year), and much more. My packing list will look a bit different, but this will be able to give you a general idea. I am estimating $2,000 for spending money while I am on the race. That spreads out to give about $181 per month. Finally, I am estimating $1,560 to cover my monthly student loan payments while I am on the race. That comes out to be an extra $5,560 needed to be fully funded. Since this money is for equipment, spending, and student loans, I would love to be able to raise this money before launch. Money for things such as this will not be tax deductible, however. This money would have to be donated directly to me as AIM has a no refund policy. There are a few ways to do this. First of all, you could send a check written out to me, Shelby Weier. You could send this check to my parents house. If this is something you are interested in doing, please contact me for the address. Another way to do this would be to give online through PayPal. You can do this with my email address. Simply log into your paypal account, click send money, and type my email address. My email address is [email protected]!
Please consider giving a monthly or one time gift! It seems like a lot, but if only 25 people gave a monthly donation of $75 starting in November, I would be fully funded in time! If 50 people gave monthly gifts of $35 starting in November, I would be fully funded in time! Even if it seems like a small amount, remember that every bit counts! If you are considering giving a montly gift, I encourage you to start that sooner rather than later since I have deadlines months before I launch! Also, since the last deadline is in January, feel free to set that as your stop date to avoid the mess of having to cancel in in the future.
