As we prepare for our final week here in Peru, I find myself amazed once again by the month and how quickly it has gone. It seems like only yesterday I was on the forty hour bus ride from La Paz to get here. Even though it has gone quickly, what a full month it has been! Our ministry days were varied from things like hosting a week long VBS for the neighborhood kids to traveling to schools and churches all over Trujillo preaching, dancing, and putting on skits to prison ministry and hospital visits to staying at the ministry site and working with the kids here in our very own school. Being that it was an all squad month, we could all be found doing different things at any given time. Mostly you would see a group of people learning dances here, practicing skits there, painting a logo here, or practicing spanish songs there. While all of these things were amazing, my heart could be found beating on the floor of our classroom here at L.K. Wolter Christian Academy. The fourteen kids that they have here have absolutely stolen my heart and turned it to mush. While they are a rowdy bunch for sure, they are full of innocence and joy beyond measure. Teaching them has been the greatest of pleasure. It is so rewarding to be able to help someone expand their knowledge of something. For example, today I taught vowels and then writing and simply recognizing numbers 1-10. Even something as simple as that was so very rewarding. Savage ministries has done such a good job with this school, even though they only have one full time volunteer. The school is offered for free to kids in the neighborhood. To receive a good education here in Peru, one must typically go to a private christian or catholic school. These can be crazy expensive for parents. This school, while being a private Christian school, offers these kids not only a great education for free but also the knowledge of the love of Christ. It truly is amazing what they are doing here and has the potential to transform this community. In order to offer this as a free service, Savage Ministries has a sponsorship program for their students. Currently only 8 of their 20 students have sponsors. Only $30/month or $300/year allows each one of these amazing kids to go to school everyday. Here they get a good education. They learn about the love of Jesus. They receive hygiene products that they don’t typically receive at home. This includes washrags, toothbrushes and toothpaste to brush their teeth, maybe for the only time per day. They get a balanced breakfast and lunch. They are also working on getting uniforms for their students. This is great because one of the little boys wore the same worn out, dirty Christmas sweater all week this week. Most importantly they get to feel the love and acceptance from people who have intimate relationships with the living God. $30/month could be handing these kids the keys to the kingdom! Let’s partner with Savage Ministries to transform the lives of these amazing Peruvian kids in the natural and the spiritual! What do you say? If you feel lead to sponsor any of these children, please visit: www.savageministries.com and click sponsor. You can also get in contact with them to talk more about sponsorship or ask any questions you may have by emailing to [email protected]. Here are some of the kids who need sponsors and a little bit that I have noticed about them. Hold onto your heart…it might get away from you!
First of all, little Richard (1) needs sponsorship. This kid has stolen my heart completely! He is four years old so he is in the younger class. He is a bit rowdy at times, but has a smile that comes so easily and absolutely lights up the room. He has kinda a rough home life from the stories I’ve heard him tell, but he has a heart of pure gold!
Then we have sweet Jose (2). He is five years old, and the biggest lover this world has seen. He comes in everyday and runs to give me and each of the other volunteers a hug that doesn’t end until you end it. He seriously has a huge heart. His smile is also one of the most precious sights this side of heaven. He is also a bit behind, but he tries with all of his might! As soon as he gets one on one, he instantly starts to get it! He is such an amazing kid!
Then we have Franck (3). He is four and probably the most intelligent student we have. He is brilliant. He is very quiet, but always quick to answer the teachers questions and almost always answers them correctly. His capacity for learning and memorizing is amazing. Because he is more on the serious side, when his smile, a smile that completely transforms his face, comes you know it’s from pure joy.
We also have Elder (4). He is five years old and reminds me so much of my nephew Jaxon. He is one of the smartest kids in the older class. He just catches on to stuff so quickly and is so intelligent. He is kinda rowdy though and definitely a goofball. He also has such a tender heart. I love him to pieces! Jordy also needs sponsorship (5)! He is four years old. He is definitely the ring leader but really does have a great heart. He can be super sweet and, for the most part, is pretty up to date with his learning.
Sweet Kelsi also needs a sponsor (6). She is also super smart. She is five years old and right up there with Elder leading the older class in intelligence. She is so quick to learn and equally as quick to talk. This girl is not shy at all! She is very outspoken, but never in a rude way! She has such a pure heart! It is amazing!
Yojhan also needs a sponsor (7). He is the most timid and quiet child we have. You will notice he doesn’t smile much for pictures…he is that shy. He is always paying attention in class, and you just know he is taking it all in!
Then we have Anthony (8). He thinks he is Spider-Man! He will shoot you with his webs at any chance he gets. He is a wiggle worm with giggles that could make you float! He is absolutely adorable but honestly pretty far behind. He needs the extra help.
Then we have Jeanpier (9). He is four years old and super sweet. He is a lover with a pure heart for sure! I absolutely adore him!
Next is Jerson (10). He is also amazing. He is a lover and full of life. His laugh is the most contagious thing in the world. He is a bit behind in his numbers and letters, but he is coming along! He seriously is absolutely precious!
Finally we have sweet Jadee (11). She is the youngest at just three years old. She is also a little timid, but I think it is mostly due to her age. She has such a sweet smile and pays attention very well for her age. She is honestly the sweetest thing!

All of these kids need sponsors plus more! Savage Ministries pick up the slack for the kids who don’t have sponsors. With this being the case, they won’t be able to do this forever and definitely won’t be able to grow? $25 is one trip to the movie theater less per month to give these kids a good education, good hygiene, uniforms, balanced food, and the ability to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior! Let’s band together and help out these kids here in Peru! What do you say? Go here: www.savageministries.com to learn more! Thanks for loving these kids like I do!
