11 Things I love About Huaticocha!
I have only been here five days, and I have already fallen in love with Huaticocha. The people, the sights, the smells, the sounds…everything has nestled its way into my heart and seems to be there to stay. In true world race fashion, here are 11 of my favorite things (in no particular order):
11. Our view as we walk to ministry: the Amazon rain forrest with a volcano in the background.
10. How everyone calls you “hermana” (sister) instead of “gringa” (white lady).
9. How absolutely safe I feel walking down the street at night even though it is “jungle dark” outside.
8. I can pick fresh Cacao and eat it right off of the tree. Yum!!
7. It is normal to hike to a river, jump off the bridge into the water, wash your hair in the stream, and then walk up the mountain to do ministry in a village at the top.
6. We can hike through the rain forrest and go cave diving and swim at the bottom of the most surreal 70ft waterfall.
5. Our ministry contacts. Inca Link is amazing, and we have been able to meet some really amazing missionaries.
4. Our host family…especially the little brothers we have acquired.
3. Living in close quarters with my team. Our rooms are small, and we are squished in…but I am so thankful for the community that comes with it!
