Well hey there friends!
I have received a LOT of questions about The World Race, rightfully so. “You mean the Amazing Race?” has been probably the most asked, and let me clarify: this year will not be televised. This year will not end with a cash prize, or meeting the love of my life (hello season 26 hysteria.) This year will be a year of working alongside incredible people from around the world to serve with our hands and feet, time and resources.
As promised, here are the answers to most other questions(;
1. Who’s on your team?
My team is made up of about 30 people, all ages 22-35 from around the world. And teams are like classes in elementary school, where the squad is like the whole grade. So we know out squad mates, and not who will be on our individual teams yet!
2. Do you know your teammates? When do you get to meet?
So I know my squad mates, and have met probably 2/3 of them! We have a zoom date once a week that, without Covid, probably wouldn’t have even started. (Woah. Grateful.) So I normally get to chat with half a dozen squad mates every other week on zoom when I’m not working! And our groupme&group texts are no joke! I’m SO grateful for the opportunity to start getting to know the people I’ll be doing life with next year.
3. When do you leave and when do you come back?
We do not have our first country’s tickets purchased yet but will be launching toward the end of January. We will return at the end of November We have a 10 Day Training Camp early January before launch, where we meet all together in person. This serves as a base for who our squad is and what strengths/weaknesses we bring into the year, as well as setting us up for success to live month after month in vastly different cultures.
4. Where are you going, and where will you be staying?
We will be spending time in three different regions of the world!! Eastern Europe, East Asia, and South America! Adventures In Missions has bases all around the world as well as ministry partners. So we could be staying with a host family, a pastor, local ministry friends, camping, or hostiles. It’s an adventure!!!
5. Who will you be working with? AKA.. What are you doing with your time?
I love this question, and actually don’t mind that my answer is I don’t know! With AIM’s partnerships, there are a variety of options for ministries we’ll be working with every month. We could be serving food and setting up donations for homeless populations, running Vacation Bible Schools, caring for orphans, building equipment for churches/playgrounds/houses, talking with sex trafficking victims, leading exercise classes, and the list goes on.
6. What COVID precautions are y’all taking?
To be honest, a lot is likely to change in the next couple months. Training camp will look a lot more separated than normal (to limit our exposure to our squad). And we’ll all be tested before meeting up for training camp. Ultimately, we will respect each country’s entry guidelines and our ministry partner’s wishes to keep everyone safe and healthy.
As always, reach out with questions, comments, and love!
I appreciate you.
I couldn’t do this without you??
