Month one can be summed up in two words. Sweet. Spot. I had a sweet spot for my team, it being an all squad month and seeing how intentional we were with one another. I had a sweet spot for food and drinks. I can’t even tell you how many cordobas I spent on ice cream sandwiches (Nicaragua has the best!) mochas at the coffee shop and coca-cola right down the sweet from our dorms. Most importantly those sweet spots with God and learning more about His goodness and His love for us personally.
I have always loved maybe one scoop of ice cream, a cup of coffee and a soda pop here and there back in the states. However, that was not the case in Nicaragua and I know there was a reason for this. I believe 1. That God can literally speak to you through anything, doesn’t matter how big or small it is, 2. He wanted to show me His sweet spot for me, and 3. He now wants to show that His sweet spot is for anyone who is willing to just say yes to Him.
I can’t tell you how many times God showed up for me and my squad during month one because it’s just too many to count. I can tell you though, that once we had those sweet moments, we went back hungry for more.
Being aware of how much God wants to be apart of our daily lives and speak to us is a sweet spot. Once we have that taste of who He wants to be in our lives, the more we will crave to listen and look for Him.
As I look back at my time in Nicaragua all I can think about are those sweet moments and God reminding me of Psalm 34:8, “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.” All we gotta do is just take that first bite.
