Story Time Folks

A couple of weeks ago, I joined team Kingdom Sojourners for about a week before we traveled into Kazakhstan for our ministry host the next month. At the beginning of the week we did a listening prayer to see what and where God would lead us during that time. While we were praying, the Lord continually highlighted a church.

While I was praying, I was wondering why the heck the Lord had put a church on my heart, and where exactly I was going to find it.

I let the team in on what the Lord had put on my heart, and before i knew it Jake had pulled up a church on map.me

So I am guessing you know where that leads the story next….

The next day I woke up early and headed out with my map to find this church.

I walked for about a hour and started getting into a more “sketchy” part of town, but continued on. I mean if the good Lord had put it on my heart to find this church, then the good Lord would keep me safe, right?

So I finally arrive where it says the church is. I look around and see nothing. Bummed, I decided that I going to walk a little further. I spot a building that looks like it could be a church, but it had quite a large fence around it, as well as looking closed.

Decision time- I could walk home, or I could take a chance and ring the door bell on the fence?

Well shoot, I already walked this far.

I rang the door bell and next thing I know a young woman opens the gate.

I quickly ask her, is this a church??

She responds “yes, do you want to come in?”

Y’all already know my response, yes!!

So I walk in, no joke, and see about 200 kids running around.

Her next question, do you want to help out at a summer camp?

My response- HECK YES!

After a warm welcome, I get shown around by the pastors wife, and end up meeting some fellow Americans who are from California on a mission trip.

So the rest of the week, my team and I were able to come alongside and help them with the summer camp everyday from 11-5!

I end up finding out that this is actually one of the contacts our squad would be using later that month! I was able to make some amazing friendships with some of the locals, as well as the team from California.

It was an amazing opportunity to love on the kids and share Jesus with them!

My favorite part of the day was getting to help in the kitchen for lunch every day and try to communicate with the staff. (not many of them spoke english) But actions and laughter and smiles go farther than words around the world!

Here are some pictures from my time there:
