December is here. As this winter season begins, my Indiana season is coming to an end. In 28 days I will have all of my belongings for 11 months packed up into a 65 liter pack and a 28 liter day pack. In 28 days I will fly to Atlanta for leadership training and launch. In 28 days I will say goodbye to family and friends for a brief time and say hello to new friends who I get to do life with all around the world.
A lot of people have asked me if I am nervous to leave. I have been waiting and preparing for over a year now and I can say I have no fear for this upcoming journey. God has laid this path before me with so much clarity and has brought an overwhelming peace with it.
Another way to look at it: I am not leaving… I am going. I am going into the unknown. I am going to to new places with new people. I am dropping my net and going.
Another common question I have been asked lately is how to support me as I prepare to leave.
1) Quality time is one of my primary love languages. Lets hang out.
2) Pray. (Prayer requests below)
3) Donate. I still need a little over $1600 to be fully funded. If I get $100 a day for I will be fully funded by Christmas. Please share my blog and my support link to help me reach my goal.
With Love,
Shelby
Prayer Requests:
-My Team—As we prepare to leave
-My Squad—There are several people who still need to reach the deadline ($7500) to launch with us in January. Visit my Facebook profile to figure out how you can help
-The 4 other squads also leaving in January
-The Philippines—Tropical Storm Hagupit hit the Philippines yesterday. Just over a year ago more than 7,000 people were lost or killed by Typhoon Haiyan. We are headed to the Philippines first. Please pray for the people and communities who are still recovering from last Haiyan and for those currently in the midst of Hagupit.
