God has spoken a lot to me on the race. Through his word, through dreams, through prayer and through worship. What I've learned about his voice is that what doors His voice opens, no man can close, that his voice brings perfect peace, and that the result of following his voice is abundant life.
Abba has taught me through the story of Joseph this past week. Jesus spoke to Joseph through a dream and told him that God would make him so powerful that people would bow down to him. Then guess what happened? His own family sold him into slavery. Not only is that bad, its the opposite of what God told him in his dream. So the man that God said would be powerful became a slave. Things began to look up for him, but then a woman lied about him and wrongly attacked his character as a result of her own sin! Because of it he was sent to prison for something he didnt do. Yet what seems like another set back from the dream God gave him. Years later, his dream finally came true and he became in charge of all of Egypt and saved many people. (genesis 37-41)
This story proves the fact that when God opens doors no force can close them. It also encourages me to be patient when I feel like God isn't providing the promises he's spoken over me. He is faithful- and He will always deliver on His promises.
In addition to teaching me patience God has also been faithful to address a struggle that I've had for several years; recognizing the difference between Gods voice and the voice of the enemy. I know that one of the greatest lessons God has for me during this season is to hear his voice so frequently and so clearly that I never again question when He speaks.
For the past few weeks I have had moments of indescribable peace followed by moments of overwhelming frustration. Abba reminded me that I am involved in an intense battle, not here on earth but in the spiritual realm. He told me it isn't my battle to fight- my part simply involves being still and listening to His voice that provokes peace and letting Him fight for me.
"…For the battle is not yours, but Gods… You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance The Lord will give you…" -2 chronicles 15 & 17
The enemy doesn't like the peace that God lavishes on us. The enemy strives on doubt. The enemy tries to shut the doors that only God can open. Therefore, when God speaks life- the enemy comes and tries to squelch it.
Notice that I said "tries." The enemy only has as much power as we give him. I write this to you today proclaiming victory. Victory that is found in Christ alone.
Because of the constant reminder of Gods victory I am living an abundant life in Him. Abundant life doesn't mean an easy life; in fact many times the abundant life God has for me involves hard conversations, hard decisions and hard situations. The abundant life I'm walking into consists of focusing on the voice that speaks life. A life that recognizes the difference between the voice of my father and the voice of the enemy. A life of patience as God fulfills His promises in His time. A life that proclaims peace and victory in Jesus name.
How about you? Are you filled with peace or frustration? Are you living in the abundant life? Are you letting Abba fight for you or are you taking matters into your own hands? Victory is found in Him alone. Peace is found in Him alone. Therefore above all: find him.
