I felt a very strong calling to missions even before my trip to Nicaragua but while there I fell in love with that lifestyle. It’s been near and dear to my heart ever since the spring of 2015, when my youth group attended a conference. I knew from then on I wanted to change my life and the lives of others around me! First, I was looking into the peace corp but I read it was recommended to at least have a BA in something. My youth leader, Courtney, told me of a friend she had whose daughter was on the world race gap year. So I thought okay, I’ll look into it and what I read made me feel as if this was right for me. I applied before I went it Nicaragua, and honestly I didn’t think I would get any phone calls or emails about it. But I did and had my interview scheduled. I thought I messed up because I didn’t hear anything back for a while and I thought I had said something wrong or maybe it wasn’t the Lord’s plan for me.Then one day as I was walking to my car, I received the best news I possibly could! I was accepted into the Race! I can not tell you how loud I was when I hung up! As each day passes, I find myself getting more and more anxious for my first day on the field. I hope you stay with me on this journey!
