Let’s Talk ATL

No not Atlanta, Georgia. This ATL is probably not the one you know. Sorry the title might be a little misleading for some!!

The letters ATL means Ask The Lord. This month the format of ministry is unstructured. One thing I’ve learned clearly throughout the race, I do best with structure. Usually I create that “personal schedule” around my career or this year around ministry. But this month is different we get to ask God everyday to send us or open our eyes to the opportunities around us.

Throughout the race we have been constantly challenged to really see, learn, and be open to the way God would specifically reach the people/cultures around us. The truth of life as ministry is written throughout the bible. But more specifically the model we have been learning from is Acts 2 and Luke 10. The sharing and spreading of the Gospel through devoted teachings, sacrificial love, celebration, miraculous healings, and prudently speaking truth in love.

Ministry beyond a schedule, hosts…unplanned. That is what ministry looks here in month 9, everyday. We begin the day in prayer. Next we share what impressions, thoughts, dreams or even words God put on our hearts and set out in faith to see how God will guide each step of the way. Since this month has just begun, the following is 1 or 2 ATL stories on the WR:

During our first week of ministry a previous World Racer and two of her friends stayed at our same Hostel! My consistent prayer is for God to show me what he has for me and give me a deeper trust to simply follow. Melissa, Kasey, Naomi, and Haley were among the first to sit and chat with them. It was an instant connection; we got to have fun and meaningful conversations. It definitely was a lift for all of us. The coolest part is that I had the honor of giving away my “key for the journey”!

Flashback to launch in October 2017. Every individual  received a key with a specific word(s) or scripture printed on it and at some point in the journey once you understand your word it’s your responsibility to give it away. My word was “Let Go” and not until South Africa did I really find out the what it meant. The lie that I was believing; “There isn’t enough. God’s abundance doesn’t apply to me.” This results in living a life of insecurity and scared to let go of things for fear that no more good would come. In Acts 2:42-47, the scripture points to how the disciples lived after the in filling of the Holy Spirit. They got it! They saw that everything they had and all they were was only a matter of staying connect to God, the source!

No one is ever sure at what point in the race but for me it was month 9. I will continue to walk in faith as God moves this discovered truth from head to heart. God’s abundance is for me!
