Biggest Lessons

–> Walking in Christ’s Authority…

As a child of Christ, there is a certainties in life. One of them is knowing the heart of our father by spending time with him. Seeing his heart means understanding his character and what he see in us. This is central part of living. Knowing him and knowing ourselves though him gives us a constant or safe place to then go out and impact the world.

Every week our teams are sent this google document called Journey Markers. One of the most recent, asks if we are walking in authority in the area of our Self, Community, and Family. This is where it all started to come together; making daily habit of seeking and learning how to walk in the authority God has already given us.

–> Life Tools…

I have learned are more about my identity in Christ (Gal. 3:26-29), choosing freedom after knowing God (Gal. 4:9), my active inheritance in Christ (Gen. 12:2-3), and directly hearing God’s heart for his creation (Eph. 1:7-10). These are things that I remind myself through scripture daily.

–> Writing a new story…

The biggest part of my life long journey has been finding healthy community outside of my family. The more you mature the more brokenness you start to see. This journey of seeing and experiencing brokenness starts earlier for some people than others. It also, has a different long-term effect.

Here on the race God has made it clear that he is calling me into healthy community. In order for me to really accept the relationships, communities and opportunities he sets in front of me there is the flip-side of “letting go”. This means letting go of anything that is opposite of God’s desires for me. I’m grateful that with each step he is showing me how.

He has shown me the gift of my family at home. There is just something so sweet about the way my siblings and I were taught to love. Its the kind of love that seeks to understand, meets a person where they are and finds ways to speak life into them. But true love is only born of love and that love’s origin came from the way that my mom sought after God. She choose to be a conduit of God’s love in its purest from and in his love we blossomed.

Finally, he is challenging me to bring these elements of healthy community into any place that he puts me. The goal was always for his believers “to go out and make disciples”(Mat. 28:19-20). This means no matter place or your level of comfort, God leads his people where he wants them to be. So if he has put you there, the consistent question then becomes,” How do I share and actively live out what I know God has already taught and asked of me?”
