Of all the experiences from camp, this might honestly be one of my favorites.
It was Saturday, the second to last day of camp. By this time we had all been through a complete transformation. We had made close friendships, broke down walls, experienced things we never thought we would experience and had formed our teams. This day was an ATL day or “Ask the Lord” day.

Okay seriously God. Is this the day for conversations through Billboards?

We left the pizza place and ended up in a park trying to figure out where God wanted us to go next. We decided to take the money we were given, find an ice cream shop and by ice cream for people. Leaving the park we saw some people having a picnic. We stopped to ask them if they knew of an Ice cream shop nearby and the lady responded, “We aren’t from here.” So out of pure curiosity we asked where they were from. She said, “Ocala, FL”! NO WAY! I’m in the middle of nowhere and not only have I met one person from my area but now I have met two! What are the odds of that happening?
After sharing with them what we were doing their friends were able to direct us back to the ice cream shop. We spent the remainder of the afternoon buying ice cream for people and sharing with them our story and listening to theirs. I also happened to meet a gentleman who was from Jacksonville, FL and was familiar with some missionaries from my area as well! Go figure.
I’m not exactly sure what the point was for me to meet all those people from my hometown that day. I don’t exactly know why God wanted us to turn left but I’m sure glad I did. I know that my team did the right thing and God does answer prayers even through Billboards.
