Kakamega, Kenya
August 9th, 2011
Today we drove from Nairobi, Kenya to Kakamega, Kenya, our ministry site. The landscape was beautiful and I just wanted to share with you the sights we saw.
3. Cows, sheep and donkeys roam the sides of the streets.
4. Kenyan roads can be as bumpy and nauseating as a rollercoaster ride.
5. I wish I would have practiced using a squatty potty! (My 1st experience, I couldn’t go and had to wait another 6 hours before I got an actual toilet!)
6. These massive tree leaves remind me of how God is stretching out for us. He desires us! And @ the same time he is holding us in the palm of his hands.
It was a really good remind while riding on this bumpy Kenyan road to see these massive leaves. Unfortunately I could never get a picture of them but they were huge! And it reminded me that God wants us and at the same time he has us in his hands. These leaves were almost reaching out toward us, like inviting us in just like God reaches out for us. He wants us to talk to him, walk with him, and experience life with him. He desires us to be a part of him and him us. At the same time, these leaves were so big I could literally stand on them and still have enough room left over! It’s just like God has us in the palm of his hands. He is holding us and there is room left over. It was just an awesome reminder to have in the middle of a LONG travel day.
7. God is the shepherd and we are the sheep.
