In trying to process all of these verses and trying to wrap my head
around all that God was saying, I realized that my questions all lead up to
another question….What “gifts” do I have?
I mean there are about 3 to 4 different sections in the Bible that
specifically mention gifting but I was just so confused on which ones I was
confused on until I talked to Elaina, my teammate, and this is what she said,
“I think that your main focus and questioning refers to the gifts of the Holy
Spirit and I think you should focus on that.”
So, that’s where I began and this is what I learned…
1 Corinthians 12:7-11
“Now to each one the manifestation of the
Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit
the message of WISDOM, to another
the message of KNOWLEDGE by means of
the same Spirit, to another FAITH by
the same Spirit, to another GIFTS OF
HEALING by that one Spirit, to another MIRACULOUS
POWERS, to another PROPHECY, to
another DISTINGUISING BETWEEN SPIRITS,
to another SPEAKING IN different
kinds of TONGUES, and to still
another the INTERPRETATION OF TONGUES.
All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and HE GIVES THEM TO EACH ONE, JUST AS HE DETEREMINES.”
It hit me…there…in the first sentence… “now to each one the
manifestation of the Spirit”. All along that I have read this verse I kept
thinking that God gives us one gift but today I went “duh!” as I realized God
actually gives us the manifestation of the Spirit which means we get ALL the
gifts! It’s up to the Spirit to determine which gift we receive when we receive
it and need to use it.
Hebrews 13:8y6
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and
today and forever.”
John 10: 30
“I and the Father are one.”
So if Jesus and God are one then God is also the same yesterday, today
and forever. Therefore the miracles performed in the Old and New Testament are
still performed today. I have the power and authority to do these things, now I just have to figure out how to tap into them.
