Cypress

 

As many of you know, cypress is a type of tree that grows in the everglades. This is a tree that grows tall and deep and is found on the shores or swamplands. It is strong and survives almost everything including hurricanes, and floods.  We chose this tree as our name for those qualities. We want to go deep with God, as well as grow tall into Him. We want to gain our strength from Him and His waters. Also when we looked up the names cypress we found that it had a Spiritual representation already. It represents being dead to the world and alive in Christ. We'll take that too! This team wants to go deep and wide and tall in Christ and leave our former selves behind.

 

Isaiah 55:13

 

Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress;

    instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle;

and it shall make a name for the Lord,

    an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.”
