Blog one from the field…

First blog from the field!!!                       July 7-14

Hey everyone! Hola from Honduras! We are located in the mountains in the capital city named Tegucigalpa. We are staying with Tony and his wife in a safety/refuge for boys from the streets called Zion's Gate. Here we will be involved with a bunch of different things such as building relationships with the boys, and the kids from the school right next door… Doing manual labour here on the grounds, yard work, painting, etc… Also we will being going out into the city and surrounding area partnering with ministries Tony has built relationships with.

Traveling to Honduras was way less exciting than anticipated… We hade a lovely tour bus and a great plane ride and the hostel was nice!  One border crossing was a little sketchy, but nothing happened. Being here has been surreal. It is as though I am surrounded by strangers, yet there is this connection with everyone that I encounter.

Mom, we really should have kept up with the Spanish lessons before I left, but we did think that I had more time to learn… I tend to keep reverting into French, which doesn't help me at all!!!

Team Isha has the privilege to work on Tonys house. We are revamping the living room,😃… We will be able to use our creative ability to transform the cold cement walls into a warm and inviting space! All those DIY shows on TLC will come in handy.

We get to make the house a refuge for Tony's family. When the boys come to stay at Zion's gate, they stay in the house with Tony. They are his extended family. The boys and a couple girls that are here have such a respect for Tony, it is amazing. They have literally come from the streets and have chosen to stay here and live under Tonys rules. They attend school and have dreams of doing passport with aim, and becoming preachers and teachers… All because one man decided to listen to God and love on some kids.

On thursday we got to go into the city and spend some time with girls who have been removed from the streets. Girls that have no idea what it is like to be truly loved. I got to spend some time with one girl named Saudi. She broke my heart. She has some sort of disability and was sitting alone when all the other girls went to the different stations that were set up. I got someone to translate, and I was able to paint her nails, and then we got to play with sidewalk chalk. The smile that ran across her face was absolutely priceless.

Friday we "hit the streets" we literally went out into the city and stood with signs that said "honk if you love Jesus". My team worked on our dance to do in each country. I actually had a lot of fun. After the street we went to the mall and bought snacks and the Internet did not work, so my blog was not posted. Sorry guys, hopefully it can be posted this Friday.

Saturday we got to go to the colony. This is a place that even Hondurans do not go to because of the reputation of the people and gangs etc. We went to work with a pastor from there who does soccer with the guys/gang members there and then shares God. I participated in a drama with one of the guys from Zion's gate. He did really well! There was no fear of the people there, just love. And the church we went to was nicer than any thing we have been to here in Honduras so far.

Thanks again everyone for your prayer and support! This month Friday will be blog day!
Love you all!!!
