I’ve never been a very superstitious person, so when I make a wish on a shooting star or toss a penny into a wishing well, it’s mostly for the fun of the tradition rather than a hope for a granted wish. That is the same sentiment I had today as my roommate and I grabbed each end of the turkey wishbone and closed our eyes to make a wish. On the count of three, we both tugged on the bone…and both of our pieces snapped off as the center piece flew across the room and landed on the floor. We looked at each other and laughed and wondered if that meant both of our wishes came true or neither? So she picked up the remainder of the bone and tugged on both sides again, and once more, the bone split directly down the center, leaving four perfectly proportionate pieces. I’ve never seen a wish bone break so perfectly even! SO…we decided it MUST mean both of our wishes would come true. She looked at me and asked, “What did you wish for?” I told her I wished that I would raise all my funding for my mission trip, as I watched her jaw drop in the middle of my sentence. She replied, “I have goosebumps right now!! I promise you, I wished the same thing!” Hahaha how funny and silly it sounds to stake a belief in our wish coming true based on the perfect split of a turkey wishbone…but God has worked in more mysterious ways, and I think He loves to see us laugh and wonder at such “coincidental” happenings. He sure is a GOOD and gracious Father and I will always remember the funny time that I was reassured that He provides, even through a silly tradition of making wishes
