This is just a quick update to address the increased funding I need to cover the costs of the trip.
Many of you have asked what I’m doing with health insurance. Adventures in Missions has been renegotiating health care options in order to offer us the best possible care. A few weeks ago we finally received our options which in essence were:
- To stick with the current $300 plan or
- To opt for the new plan which costs $758.
After further research and talking with past Racers, I chose to opt for the new plan. Although there is a significant price difference, this new plan offers much more coverage including recreational activities and medical care upon my return to the States for any injuries or illness I incur on the field.
Adventures in Missions will pay for my health insurance from my funds. So, I now need to raise an additional $758 for a new total of $16,258. The current fundraising deadlines still apply, so I must be fully funded with the new amount by February 1st or I will be sent home after only 6 months on the field.
I want to thank you all so much for your giving so far and I honestly don’t know how to express my appreciation for your generosity and support. It’s because of YOU I can actually depart in September and am guaranteed three months on the field!
