This is one of my favorite times of year. I look forward to the anticipation of the New Year and reflection of the year ending. The excitement of friends, parties, food, and we cannot forget Christmas music. The holiday lights and decorations. Hot chocolate, fires, and warm blankets. What’s not to love?
This year, it’s been a bit harder to see the whimsy and magic of the season. The reality I can’t seem to shake is this: the world is hurting. Our nation is hurting. I am hurting. I’m sure we’ve all felt this to a degree.
Around this time last year I was in Thailand witnessing first hand the evils of prostitution and sex trafficking. Recently, our country seems to be falling apart in front of our very eyes. Personally, I’ve been wrestling hard parts of my own story as hidden pain came to life and threatened to destroy me completely. It’s obvious that something is terribly wrong.
