Hello everyone!!! For the past month, I have been in Kremenets, Ukraine doing ministry as part of the World Race. I would love to give you a snap shot of my life through a couple of blogs. This first blog will be getting to know the people I met and the places I stayed at.
Soooo without further ado, I would love to introduce you to the people who have made Ukraine a home for me!
This is my host family and team. We had a husband and wife named Lodik and Ira and their four wonderful children, Donna our translator and friend, our two Ukrainian “mammas” that prepared our amazing food, our three “brother” roommates, Deema who would drive us around town in his van, and our friends Sasha, Maryna, and Natalia. From the first day, I felt so loved and cared for by these people and they will forever be in my heart.
My team and I served at a Baptist church in Kremenets, Ukraine. Kremetes is a smaller city. Here is a picture from a mountain overlooking the city.
Spiritually, Kremenets and its surrounding cities are predominately Orthodox. Here is a picture of me visiting a very large Orthodox church in the neighboring city of Pochaiv that we also did ministry in.
I went to this church during a time when people from all over participate in a walking pilgrimage from long distances to visit. Here is a picture of some of the tents pitched out in the lawn. There were also people’s sleeping mats in various rooms in the church.
Our ministry host let us stay in a house right next to our Baptist church. Check out this “MTV Cribs” video that my teammate Taylor made to see our home and church in more detail.
I love you all very much!
Don’t forget to check out part 2 about my ministry time in Ukraine 🙂
