My ministry host from Romania took my squad and I to Polychrono, Greece for our adventure days. It was such a wonderful surprise. To quote him, “I give you good tourism, you give me good ministry.” So we hopped in a van, drove to Greece, and camped in tents only a few feet from the beach. Talk about beautiful!
I would love to share a journal entry from my first morning there when my squad decided to wake up early to watch the sunrise.
It is about the love of Jesus in my life.
(Backstory) I was talking to Jesus about how I have been longing for his deep personal love that I experienced when he first revealed how much he loves me. It has been years since I have felt that way and months since I have felt close to God in any way.
Here we go….
I stood this morning watching the sunrise over the Agean Sea in Greece.
As the sun peaked over the mountains like an orange coin, I realized that I had never seen the actual sun rise before. I was watching it for the first time in my life and it was incredible! I was in awe.
Afterward, as I was walking, I felt like God said he was showing me his love in a different way than in the past. He was giving me experiences that both my heart had desired (missions and travel) and surprises I hadn’t even thought about (like realizing I’ve never watched the sun peak out for the first time and coming to Greece). He is giving me the gift of a life well lived.
I still long for that closeness of “deep calling to deep” but it is amazing that even when I feel like he is not here, he is. I was looking for him in an old way and did not recognize that he was moving in a new way. He can surprise me with his love in new ways.
My prayer, “God, give me eyes to see and ears to hear you moving so that I am aware of your newness every day.”
It is a new season with new things. He has not abandoned me but is moving in unfamiliar ways. God, I am ready for the new.
I was feeling a little guilty for coming to Greece instead of working super hard on the ministry field. But not anymore! God sent me here to tell me He loves me and I accept this gift.
Here are some pictures of my first sunrise!!!
