I leave for Ukraine tomorrow! I am embarking on an 11 month mission trip around the world to spread the love of Jesus. Thank you everyone for your love and support to make this a reality.
Let me break down a bit of the logistics for you 🙂
I will be traveling on a squad with these 27 beautiful people to all 11 countries!
Once we get to Ukraine, we will split into smaller teams that will serve at different ministry hosts. I am a part of a team with 6 other wonderful ladies.
I am so excited to be serving in Rivne, Zdovbitsa at the Center for Apologetic Research. One of my team’s service opportunites will be teaching English.
I have been in Atlanta, Georgia for the past 4 days for World Race training and tomorrow is the big launch day. I am feeling so many emotions right now.
Tonight during group worship, I realized that this would be the last night of worship and church as I know it. I was suddenly hit with fear because I won’t be able to worship God and be with God the way that I am used to.
Then I realized that I am holding on to my American version of Christianity and church but Jesus didn’t come to bring my American culture version of following Him. Jesus came to bring the kingdom of God and it is not restricted to any one country’s culture. The kingdom of God is the culture of heaven.
The line from the United Pursuit song Simple Gospel came to mind, “There’s no shame in looking like a fool, when I give up what I can’t keep to take a hold of you.”
I realized that I was holding on to the spiritual routines I had become comfortable with but those aren’t God. I felt the invitation from God to give up what I think I know about serving and worshiping Him and take hold of the truth of who He is and how the kingdom of God actually functions.
So, tomorrow begins the journey of being stripped of what I think I know and begin learning what true kingdom culture looks like. This is going to be an exciting adventure!!!
