Hello everyone! My time in Eastern Europe has come to an end (sniffle sniffle) and I wanted to share my baker’s dozen highlights and fun facts that I experienced.
Drum roll please!
13) You have to pay to use a public restroom (WC/Toilet as it is called here). Make sure to bring coins on travel day or you might get stuck using the nasty stinky toilet on the bus! Pee yew!!!!
12) Don’t flush your toilet paper!
11) Bulgarians nod their heads up and down to say “no” and shake their heads side to side to say “yes”. I can’t tell you how many times I walked away from someone thinking they had told me “no” only to realize a minute later that they had actually said “yes.” Awwwwwkward.
10) Ukrainian see saws are no joke. You can get some serious air!
9) You can drink straight from the mineral spring fountains in Sofia, Bulgaria.
8) You might have to trade a stray dog a stick on the beach for your teammate’s shoe that he thought would be a tasty snack. Or maybe he was feeling fashionable.
7) McDonald’s has the best reliable wifi
6) You have to pay extra for ketchup and condiments for your fries at McDonald’s. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
5) Horse and buggies still roam the streets (when you ask a child what sound a horse makes they respond “clip clop” like the sound of hooves on the road)
4) You can catch a mouse using an empty yogurt container and Belvitas as bait.
3) My hair makes a great beard when playing Jesus’ disciple in a children’s play.
2) The nature and hiking is amazing!
