I am still processing all that happened during Training Camp. We slept in tents for 11 nights and took only bucket showers. There was also a theme for each day that corresponded with the dress code and meals for the day. My favorites were Latin America, Africa, and Asia day. Basically, I loved all the foods! I even ate a bug – ask me about this!
There was amazing worship and messages on everything from Forgiveness, the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit, and what’s expected of us on the mission field, just to name a few topics. We also did team-building exercises and got to spend time with our leadership. After several sessions on missions, we went to a nearby suburb to practice praying with people and sharing the gospel with strangers. It was outside of my comfort zone, but a great experience. Through it all, God healed emotional and physical issues and spoke words of love and assignment to all of us. I definitely grew over the 2 weeks, and I am so excited to go spread the good news of Jesus along with my squad and team.
When I say squad, I am referring to the 36 other people I will be traveling with to each 11 countries. The World Race assigns a letter to each squad they launch to the mission field. I am on 5th generation O squad. We have named ourselves Ohana – meaning family and no one left behind. I am so excited to do this journey along with each and every one of them. In 11 short days, we became family! The squad was divided into smaller teams. The team is who I will actually be doing ministry and living with.
