This Thanksgiving I am a world away from my loved ones. YMOL church family, if you are reading this, please know as much as I love being on the Race and love my squad, I truly miss all of you! I hope you ate an extra serving of macaroni and cheese for me at the church dinner!

As I’m writing this on Thursday morning, I do not know what our Thanksgiving will look like. We will be eating it together as a squad and it’s catered by an American, but I’m pretty sure it will not be what I usually eat with everyone back home. I’m excited to sit down with the squad and celebrate all God has done in these short 2 months. So much has happened and I already feel like a different person. There’s something about being away from home and intentionally pursuing Jesus that changes you. I’m not saying everyone should go and do the same, but it’s what my journey is and what God has called me to. The important thing is that we are all seeking God first and following through with what He is calling us to do. One thing I’m learning is that He is such a patient Father. He teaches me the same lesson in a different way and I often recognize it, but I still give the same response to a circumstance, not receiving the full lesson. Sometimes I forget to choose joy, sometimes I give a sarcastic response, sometimes it takes me too long to forgive, sometimes I forget the big picture and that the world is so much bigger than my immediate issues. Yet, He’s so kind, patient and long-suffering. He’s a good, good Father.

Now on to my gratitude list! They are in no particular order.

  1. I’m thankful to be on the World Race.
  2. I’m thankful for God’s patience and long-suffering and for being a good, good Father.
  3. I’m thankful for my family.
  4. I’m thankful I reached my November support-raising deadline early.
  5. I’m thankful for my health. I do not take for granted the ability to see, hear, smell, feel, taste, walk, and run.
  6. I’m thankful for my team – Team Tigress. I know living with me 24/7 is not easy, but we continue to grow as a team, closer to each other, and closer to God.
  7. I’m thankful for my relationship with Jesus and that I learned the truth of the Bible early in life.
  8. I’m thankful for technology that allows me to Facetime home every so often.
  9. I’m thankful for my supporters who have given from $1 and above over the course of 2018 in order for me to be a full-time missionary for these 11 months.
  10. I’m thankful the attitude of gratitude that brings so much joy!

My prayer is that my whole squad (including myself) is fully funded by Christmas, so we can step in to the New Year fully funded and fully focused on our specific ministries moving forward. I am currently $4,651 away from being fully funded.

In courageous faith and for His glory alone,

Sharon
