We have made it to Kenya! We spent 4 days of debrief in Kijabe, Kenya (a major missions base and missionary hospital). And now our teams have split off to our various locations. My team and 2 others will spend the month in Eldoret. We will be working with street children, church services, a Christian radio station, door-to-door evangelism, feeding programs, etc.
I’m so excited to be back in Kenya. It is interesting to experience the change from everything being exotic and new (the last time I was here)– to familiarity, understanding A LITTLE (kidogo) of the language, and being more at ease in the culture. I love Kenyan culture and I am looking forward to digging deeper and loving people even more.
Please pray for a couple of our teams who will be going to Lodwar. They will be working with a group of unreached Turkana people and staying in their homes. The road to Lodwar is a rough 10-14 hour drive far north near Uganda. Please pray for their protection along this stretch of road.
Please pray for our squad’s safety as a whole, for the end of the month as this will be the first time many of us will have been away for Christmas, and for our team to grow stronger together and be able to be open with each other. One thing we talked a lot about in debrief was the need to be bare before God and each other, because this is when God purifies us and we are closer than ever to him (there is no need for confession of sins or anger when it is all being laid out as it happens). This will be a great month of growth for our team for sure.
I look forward to sharing more about this month when I am able. Please know internet may be limited the next 3 months in Africa. May God bless you this season as you prepare for Christmas. Remember, it shouldn’t be a frustrating or a sad time. Slow down, take a breath, and remember the love the Father has lavished on you through Jesus’s birth. Then go give that love out to someone else.
