June 2013, I left the United States for the first time and spent seven short days in Haiti. Those seven days changed my life forever. For the first time in ever, I experienced peace and true joy. My soul was revived and renewed from my time in Haiti. This was also the first time I heard anything about The World Race. I was looking for something, a new stage, ready for a sign to come my way. The consistent pressure to continue my education is insurmountable. However, missionary work has always been somewhere deep inside my soul ever since I can remember. I have never had the opportunity to pursue missions due to my constant commitment to soccer. After finishing my undergraduate degree and soccer eligibility I was torn between my heart crying, “missions” and my head lecturing, “education.” I have been told multiple times in my life that I am a people pleaser. It is one of my strengths as well as one of my weaknesses. I am terrified of disappointing my family, friends, mentors, elders, and most of all myself. I am my toughest critic by far. When I was in Haiti, I experienced CLARITY: I had been living all wrong. You cannot please everyone. You cannot live to please the world… You need to live your life according to God’s instruction.  This realization lifted a weight off of my shoulders, yet came with a tall task. Haiti shifted my entire mentality from this life, to the next. What can you do that is pleasing to the Lord? What can you do for God during your short life? How can you use your life skills and experience in order to advance His Kingdom? Well, to make a long story short my heart conquered and I am going on my first long term mission trip! I have emerged from the fog and finally have clarity in my life.

My trip is currently funded with $3,300 out of the $16,285 that I need to go on The World Race. Thank you all so much! I cannot express in words how deeply appreciative I am for each and every one of you who has prayed, donated, and or played a crucial role in getting me to where I am today.
