So I read this awesome book a little while ago.

It’s called Luke.
It records the life and ministry of Jesus and was written by a doctor.
[Named Luke.]

One of the things I have to repeatedly teach my students is how to summarize key points.
It’s a lot harder than you would think.

So I thought I would lead by example and write a quick summary
(with supporting details)
of what I got out of this book, and how it connects to my mission with The World Race.

Key Point #1: We must be servants.
“Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For he who is least among you all – he is the greatest.” [9:48]

Key Point #2: We must go, but it’s not safe.
“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.” [10:2-3]

Key Point #3: There will not be worldly security.
“As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, ‘I will follow you wherever you go.’ Jesus replied, ‘Foxes have holes and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” [9:57-58]

Key Point #4: Surprise! God wins, we are not harmed, and our names are known by God in heaven.
“I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you…rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” [10:18-20]

This isn’t even close to everything that is taught in this book.
And I’m no expert, so maybe I didn’t get everything interpreted just right.
But it speaks to my heart.
So I thought I’d share my heart.
[With you.]
