Surrender

God is teaching me to surrender EVERYTHING this year.
He actually told me he’s wrecking my plans.
Giving me a chance to give them over to him and let him take control.
Surrender my feelings, my thoughts, my schedule, my confidence, my expectations, my frustrations.
And, man, is it awesome.
He is showing up in ways I never allowed him to.
Creating environments and speaking words I’d never slowed down long enough to listen to.
I’m no longer feeling the same fears and insecurities that used to permeate everything I did.
I’m being myself, admitting when I don’t know, seeking people out intentionally, and even did a circus tumbling and trampoline class with my team.

Books

I read a few books this month that have rocked me.
If you get a chance, check these ones out:

Hinds Feet on High Places
[an allegorical story about Much Afraid’s journey with the Shepherd to the High Places]

The Pursuit of God
[non-fiction by A.W. Tozer…can’t really go wrong there]

Spiritual Slavery to Spiritual Sonship
[I’m still in the middle of this one, but it’s an interesting read about shifting from an orphan mindset to one of a son/daughter]

Food

I ate a kangaroo.
Well, just a small bite of one.
But I felt like, being in Australia, it was a cultural duty of mine to try it.

On a deeper note, coming to the table together really deserves a whole blog to itself.
It really changes things.

Sabbath

We’ve made it a priority on this squad to define what that means for us.
I’m still working on finding it, but I’ve loved intentionally seeking the Lord in it.
Really, I think it comes down to the fact that God desires us to spend time with him.
You know that feeling you get when it’s time to go out with your friends?
God wants that same level of love and excitement from us when it’s time to hang out with him.
There is no to-do list.
I’m finding it’s just a day to get to know my Friend, my Father, my Favorite.
Intentionally.
On purpose.
In the unique way he wants me to get to know him.

Bible

I’m going chronologically this year.
So I’ve been reading through the Torah this month.
Not going to lie, it’s a liiiiiittle difficult for me every year.
But this year, I’ve been introduced to the Read Scripture Podcast.
[Well, I found it a while ago and ignored it]
But, dude, the videos in it are GOLD.
Seriously.
Think fun, techy, artsy, fourth grade level explanations.
I’m obsessed.
