Meet Sofija.

From left to right: Madison, Sofija, me and Alex Our entire team from Sombor with Sofija
She’s beautiful, brilliant, and sharp as a tack.
Our team met Sofija in the grocery store she works at in Sombor. We invited her to come and hang out with us so she could practice her English, and she came over.
A few days passed, and we continued to get to know her and soon we invited her to church.
She couldn’t stay for the whole service because she had to work, but she decided to come for the little time she could.
Church began, we sang a few praise and worship songs and then she left.
Later that night she messaged one of the girls in our group that she needed to sit down with us as soon as possible, so the next day we sat down to have coffee with her.
Sofija began to tell us that while she was at church, she had a life changing experience. She explained to us that she felt something that she had never felt before – it was as if a warm feeling had come and filled her up in that room and she could only stand there shaking.
I will tell you the same thing I told her: that, my friends, is the presence of God – if you’ve felt it, you know. If you haven’t, I hope you get to experience it one day.
As our conversation continued she shared her story with us, and I shared the gospel. I won’t get into the details of that conversation because ultimately it is her story to tell, but I can tell you that she was hungry to know more about the Lord.
At the end of our conversation I told her that I felt she was at a crossroads. She could either choose to walk away from the Lord or walk towards Him. She said she agreed, she knew that the place she was at and she wanted time to think about everything.
Time went by and a few days before we left Sombor, I had the opportunity to follow up with her and ask her if she had figured out which path to take. We sat and talked and she told me that she was ready to make a decision to bring Jesus into her life.
Yes, you read that right! Sofija wanted salvation for HERSELF – wow! How the Lord works!
The Lord used me as a vessel to lead her in prayer and now a new daughter has been added to God’s Kingdom! REJOICE!
I have the privilege of sharing her story – but the beautiful thing is that her story doesn’t end here. I have full confidence in what God is doing in her life. Her journey goes far beyond me and our World Race team. She is now a chosen daughter of the King. Her relationship with the Lord will only continue to deepen and I cannot wait to see what God does through her.
Join me in praying for her daily, that she would seek the Lord above all the things of this world and that she would continue to grow in her understanding of who God is.
