Introducing team “Fearless Laughter!”

From left to right, Whitney Conner, Christina Smith, Casey Baxter, me, Rocky (Racquel) Rossbach and Meagan Jasitt!

I am so excited to introduce you to the five women that I will be spending the next chunk of my life with! I absolutely LOVE the girls on my team and I can’t wait to get to know them better. From just hanging out with them for a few days their love for the Lord and their desire to serve Him in any way is so evident.

On the Thursday of Training Camp, after various activities with many different teams, we were officially split into our final teams for the first time and told “go make a memory.” So obviously, after almost a week of camping, the first place we went was Starbucks for some much needed caffeine. We then played mini golf and got some delicious pizza for dinner. We laughed the whole time and that came up several times as we talked about a team name.

So our team name is Fearless Laughter, based on Proverbs 31:25: “She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.” So laughter is a huge part of who we are. Additionally, (as my dear teammate Casey said) most of our weaknesses come from the need to be more fearless with who we are. And BOOM: a team name was created.

And now, a little about the women I get to live with!

Whitney is really great at making everyone feel comfortable, no matter what the situation may be. She kept me laughing every time I was with her! Whitney is so funny and quite possibly the most Southern person I have ever met. I am so blessed that I am able to call Whitney a friend and a teammate, because she is the bomb!

Christina is also hilarious. She is quick to include people in whatever she may be doing. She is also quick to laugh, which I think will be extremely important on those days that everything goes wrong on the Race. Christina, I am SO excited to get to know you better in the coming months!

Casey (our Fearless team leader) is so sweet! Fun story: when Casey heard that my tent decided to spring a leak after night three at Training Camp, she immediately offered me a spot in her tent. That meant cramming two girls, two backpacks and two day packs in a tent.. and Casey did it happily. What a blessing! The next night as we set up tents, Jordan, another awesome F Squad member, offered to let me stay in her tent. As we set up her tent I heard Casey yell across the field, “Hey Shannon, need a place to sleep tonight?!” Seriously, Casey is wonderful and is going to be a GREAT leader. Casey, I cannot wait to get to know you even better, sweet friend!

Rocky (Racquel) was on every one of my temporary teams as the staff figured out who worked well together, so by about the third team I was pretty positive that Rocky and I would be on the same team on the Race. Needless to say, I was SO excited when it became official! Rocky is quieter than the rest of us (at first) but she is just as hilarious (if you haven’t noticed, I am on a team with 5 hilarious people.. it will be awesome!). I got to sit next to her in the car on our team outing and she had me in tears from laughing so hard! Her quiet, chill personality is going to be so beneficial to our team. Rocky, my friend, I love you so much already and can’t wait to live life with you!

Meagan is SO much fun! She is super sweet and she isn’t afraid to use her talents. For instance, three different times at Camp, Meagan taught us Yoga. She is really good at it but also made it easy enough for those of us who had never done it before. She never once laughed at us but also made it super fun. Meagan is a joy to be around and I can’t wait to see how the Lord continues to use her during the Race. I love you Meagan!

So there’s my fabulous team, team Fearless Laughter. Being on this team has made me about 100 times more excited for the World Race!
