Although I did go Great White Shark Diving in Cape Town South Africa, the #1 most populated place for Great White Sharks in the entire world, I really just titled this blog that in order to get your attention. 😉
Here is a list of some of the things that occurred in my month here in SA:

  • After over 16 hours in planes and airports from China to SA, we were finally able to welcome Wendy back into our team at the Johannesburg Airport!
  • We rode a bus for 18 hours from Johanusburg to Cape Town
  • We were greeted in Cape Town by a family of baboons on the Expressway
  • As consistent with the first two months, LOL was the first World Race team to ever partner with our ministry for the month.
  • After two weeks with our original ministry, we left and partnered with another new ministry contact, building a new relationship in SA for future World Racers with Volunteer Msanzi South Africa.
  • Wendy and I got a surprise trip up Table Mountain in a cable car by a loving and generous family

  • Two words: Cow. Tongue.
  • Hiked up Prayer Mountain in the freezing cold and rain with flip flops
  • Prayed and worshipped on top of a mountain South African style
  • Ate a PB&J every.single.day.
  • Sat through the longest church service of my life (6 hours)
  • Led a Women’s Ministry service
  • Lived off of a little over $2.00 a day for food
  • Was blessed with pizza, KFC, McDonalds, ice cream, avacados (my favorite), fish and chips, roasted chicken, and a South African Brie (BBQ), by some of the most generous people I’ve ever met. There were days when we didn’t have any money or any more food and God would use a random person to bless us with an amazing meal that we could never afford on our budget
  • Attended a Hillsong Church Service
  • Dove in a cage in the ocean with Maggie to see Great White Sharks so close we could touch them

  • Peed my pants in my wetsuit from fear and the freezing water
  • Got incredibly sea sick and vomited the rest of my time on the boat
  • Worked in a Crish (kindergarten) for a week, playing with kids and helping them prepare for the Christmas Play
  • Brought love, light and laughter to a Colored community (people who were forcibly removed from their homes during the Apartheid in the 60’s and 70’s by the white people in government at the time) redeeming some of the hatred and rejection the coloreds have felt from the whites.
  • Got a South African family who brought more joy and blessing to me than they will ever know
  • Walked more into my spiritual gifting of having a voice of truth by proclaiming truth in some dark and confused places
  • Learned a lot about simply trusting God
  • Shared a bottle of wine with Team LOL on a gorgeous beach in Nordhook, crying, laughing and reflecting on the 3 months we shared together where we went through more than most World Race teams experience throughout the entire 11 months

  • Our entire squad went through team changes and I am on another all girls team, Team Sound of Strength
  • Abundantly blessed by God to be spending a few days here at a gorgeous house on the beach with a cook for our squad mini-debrief
