This is a blog that my teammate Elissa Holland wrote about our month here in the Philippines.  Check it out!

This month has been emotionally overwhelming, in the best way possible. Our entire team has felt the burden of the ministry we are doing here in The Philippines. We are working with street kids in a place called Cagayan De Oro on the island of Mindanao.  Almost immediately after we got off the plane we went with our contacts to find the children that we are working with. It caught us off guard when we literally found them sleeping under a gazebo in the town square. We are spending our time teaching school and sharing God’s love to about 10 children living on the streets of a town that doesn’t sleep. Sadly, most of the children come from rough home-lives and are addicted to a drug called rugby at a young age, one as early as 7 years old. There is a family with 3 children who beg on the streets; they even fake crying to earn money while their mother collects trash nearby. We noticed very quickly that these kids are lacking basic necessities such as clothing and shoes, not to mention a roof over their heads. We want to ask all of our friends, family, strangers- anyone, to partner with us and StreetLight ministries to make a true difference while we are here this month. We want to provide clothing, mostly shoes and underwear to these beautiful kids before we leave at the end of November but we need your help to make this possible.  A pair of shoes costs less than 100 Pesos, only about 2-3USD.

If you would like to donate money to this cause, you may visit www.kidsim.org, click on “Donate,” select one time gift to missionary and choose Natalie Stephens.  Kids International Ministries is an organization dedicated to helping children in The Philippines. Natalie is the director of the program in Cagayan De Oro and she will need to know the exact amount of money donated through the organization. If you do want to donate, please email [email protected] and let me know the amount. We would love to share stories with you about this month and explain exactly what your donation will help us do! Help us Help Them.
