Tomorrow is D-day, I fly out to the Dominican Republic on Sunday.  I can’t believe that it is already here.  I do not feel ready to leave for 11 months.  I do not feel prepared to minister to people all over the world.  I terrified to leave but at the same time excited and can’t to see what happens in the next 11 months.  One of my squad mates described the feeling as bittersweet.

Bittersweet is exactly what I am feeling.  I am going to miss so many people, my family, my roommates, my friends, and my students.  These are all people who have impacted my life especially the past few years.  However, I have 11 months that is going to turn my life upside down in some many incredible ways.  It is hard to walk way from the safe world you have known and head out with almost strangers to countries you have never been.  Of course usually the best things in life require us to step out of our comfort zone.

I want to thank everyone that has supported me financially on this trip and those that are continuing giving while I am traveling.  I could not be doing this without your sacrificial giving.  I have been truly blessed by how generous everyone has been.

The next time you hear from me I will be in the DR.  Please be praying for me and my squad.  Pray that we become united as a squad and as teams.  Pray that we will begin impacting the DR for God by sharing the love of Jesus with the people there.

The main way I will be sharing about my travels is on shannonhiggings.theworldrace.org.  If you click on the update alerts and add your email you will receive automatic updates of my blog.

Goodbye for now and God bless
