Imagine arriving home from a four day trip to find that all your things have been mysteriously scattered across your room.  Let me back up…

This past week our team spent the week in David, Panama doing street evangelism. Our mornings were full of talking with and praying for many people around the city and passing out tracts, while our afternoons consisted of various drama performances in central park.  One of the men who saw our drama came up to ask questions.  Zeb was more than happy to begin a conversation with the man, and after much talking our new friend made the decision to give his heart to the Lord.

We also encountered a few people during the week who were very open with where they stood- they had been approached by many different “religions” and they were confused at how to determine which one was right.  God opened doors for us to be able to share the truth with these people and let them know that it’s not about “religion,” it’s about relationship.  We prayed with many of these men, women, and teens, and were able to pass out copies of the Book of John.

To be honest, passing out tracts did not always seem effective, or an efficient usage of our time in David. It’s like you know you are doing good, but it’s just a lot harder to measure what kind of eternal impact you are making.  But you know what, tonight I learned that we are doing a LOT of good.  Not only are we planting seeds, in many cases we watered those seeds by iniating conversations we had with the people.

The devil also made it very clear that we were a threat to him.  Every day this week we had a team member feeling under the weather in some way, shape, or form.  But instead of getting down about it, we chose to accept it as encouragement.  WE ARE ON THE FRONT LINES of this battlefield.  When we arrived home from our ministry trip to David this evening we were greeted with a little surprise.  I walked into our upstairs room at the church we were staying and when I turned on the light I felt confused.  Had I really taken everything out of my bag and scattered it all over the room?  A rat. That must be it.  I stayed at the door and motioned for Ginger to draw closer.  As she peered inside the room she noticed her wallet and foreign currency scattered on her bed and her eyes grew wide.  We politely interrupted the prayer meeting that was taking place below us and each member of our group searched our large backpacks that we had left back for the few days to see if anything was missing.  The conclusion was that a few dollars in US change and a couple packets of cookies were missing.  Strange.  Laptops, external hard drives, and backpacking equipment was left untouched! ๐Ÿ™‚

God had protected our belongings while we were gone.  No surprise there. ๐Ÿ™‚  We gathered together as a team to end that night and thanked God for his protection and we felt encouraged that we were doing enough damage for the kindom that the enemy the need to distract us.  Now THAT’S a good feeling! ๐Ÿ™‚
