“You’ve got to meet the Evan’s family.” I can’t count how many times I have heard someone tell me that back at home at FPC Rome. Their names popped up in all sorts of conversations, with praises being sung about them and their mission work overseas. Somehow our paths had never crossed…either they were outside the States or I was. The more I heard about them, the closer I came to being convinced that they were just a make-believe mission family of FPC to make the church look good. (Ok, I didn’t really think that.)

As coincidence, (a.k.a. the Lord’s plan) would have it, our first location on The World Race was none other than Antigua, Guatemala…home to the Evans! One Saturday evening they invited Ryan (the other team leader with me this month) and I over for dinner at their cozy little house on the outside of Antigua. It was such a wonderful feeling to finally meet this family, hear about their ministry and share stories from good ol’ Rome, GA.

Later on in the month, the Evans were able to have both of our teams over for dinner at their house. (Feeding 13 constantly hungry World Racers is no easy task.) It was so encouraging to us to be in a home.  We felt so welcomed! We were able spend time worshipping the Lord together, in the comfort of their living room. They were able to offer us encouragement for the next 10 months of our World Race, and spoke life over us.

At the YWAM service on Halloween…that's not how I normally dress on The World Race!

Brittney and I met up with Gracen at Cafe Condessa in downtown Antigua.

Worshipping together in the Evans home.

I’m so very thankful to have FINALLY met the Evans family, here in Antigua, Guatemala. What a small world we live in, yet what a big God we serve!

Thank you, Evans family, for your hospitality!
