God is mighty.  God is powerful.  God can do ANYTHING.

With that being said, I still find it hard to trust God in all circumstances.  Usually, I let Him handle the big stuff while I attempt to keep the little things in control.  If some   life-changing event comes about, I hit my knees in prayer.  I know God hears them and I expect Him to answer in His own timing and through His own plans.

However, I struggle with truly believing that God hears my prayers about the “little things.” You know, something like, ‘God, please don’t let my car run out of gas…even though I’ve been driving on empty since yesterday.’ Or, ‘Lord, help me find my keys so I won’t be late to work…again.’

I usually say those quick little prayers flippantly, without much of an expectation to witness God move.  My thought is this: I got myself into this mess. I can get myself out.  However, where does it say in the Bible that God doesn’t care about my prayers for the little things in my life? In fact, Scripture actually encourages us to ‘pray in the Spirit on ALL occasions with ALL KINDS of prayers and requests.’ (Ephesians 6:18)

I’ve heard quite a few World Race stories of praying to God for these little things that I’m speaking of.  From praying for a quarter-of-a-tank to last eight hours to laying hands on a broke-down car engine, the World Race culture seems to embrace this radical idea of praying to God in ALL circumstances, even the ones that seems somewhat silly.

It is my hope and prayer that God would grow me in this area during the next 11 months.  I want to be able to fully trust that He hears and answers ALL of my prayers about ANYTHING I’m willing to talk to Him about.

Here’s an example of how God is already showing me that the little things matter to Him:
