Due to our crazy amount of travel these past few weeks I’m exchanging my monthly “what I’ve learned” blog for a “what I love” blog…enjoy…

EUROPE TOP 10

10 things I love about Europe…

1 – Cobblestone streets – I love, love, love cobblestone streets. There is something quaint and cozy about the little side streets covered in hand laid stone. If you’ve ever seen someone laying the individual stones you’ll appreciate them all the more.

2 – Old buildings – There’s so much history to each and every street corner, whether you can see bullet holes or chipping paint, there is always a story to be told. In Europe when things are old it’s not just a decade or two, but rather a century or two.

3 – The people – I love Europeans…their mindset, passion and overall enjoyment of life. They work hard and play hard. They are open, honest, and so giving of themselves.

4 – Public transport – Give me a bus or train over a car any day. I would rather wait on a tram or subway than worry about parking and gas. All over Europe public transportation is readily available.

5 – Cafes – The cafe culture isn’t the same here as it is in America. People go to relax, to read, to talk, not just to get coffee and head back to work.

6 – Graffiti – Call me crazy but I really do enjoy the graffiti. I think it adds character and color to the cities it decorates.

7 – Walking – People all over Europe walk. Cities are set up with sidewalks, parks, and pedestrian streets, all of which encourage walking. It’s a great way to build some exercise into your day to day life.

8 – The mix of new and old – Europe is old, very old, but times are changing and cities are being modernized. All over Europe there is a delightful mix of new and old. I will admit that sometimes the new takes away from the old or even replaces the beauty of the old, but for the most part I enjoy the contrast.

9 – Street performers – Whether they’re singing, dancing, or just pretending to be a statue I am always entertained.

10 – Feather pillows – Nothing is as comfy as giant feather pillows. You haven’t truly slept until you’ve curled under a feather duvet and placed your head in the middle of a huge, fluffy feather pillow.
