For the past three weeks Dre and I have been scouting out new ministry contacts in Romania and Hungary. Here’s a little peak into our world…
Dre and Shanda’s excellent adventure
Our adventure started off in Romania where we visited the city of Targu Mures and a little town outside of Bistrita, called Viile Tecii. Our time there was a success in terms of ministry set up and also a great encouragement to the two of us.
After a whirlwind 5 days we headed off to Budapest, Hungary, driving through the night and arriving at 3:30 am, which was no problem for experienced racers. We took out our sleeping bags and waited patiently for the bus station to open up.
Budapest was beautiful, surpassing all my expectations.
Our personal tour guide, Andras, showed us the sites and made sure we has a blast while doing it.
When we weren’t meeting with contacts we did the rest of our work… finding and emailing various ministries in the city… at quaint little cafes. Nothing makes work go better than mixing it with a Caramel Machiatto or a steaming cup of Earl Grey.
We had impromptu music times, sometimes spontaneous worship broke out, other times we had our own little concerts in piano stores.
We made new friends and felt like we’d known them for years.
We sat in giant wicker onions…
And in a mere two weeks we’d fallen in love with both the people and the city itself. We’ve left a little piece of our hearts in Budapest.
All in all, it was an excellent adventure indeed.
