Give me Faith
I need you to soften my heart and break me apart
I need you to open my eyes and see that your shaping my life
And all I am I surrender
Give me faith to trust what you say that your good and your love is great
I’m broken inside I give you my life
I need you to sofen my heart and break me apart
I need you to pierce through the dark and cleanse every part of my
All I am I surrender
Give me faith to trust what you say that your good and your love is great
I’m broken inside I give you my life
I may be weak but your spirit strong in me
My flesh may but my god you never will
Give me faith to trust what you say that your good and your love is great
I’m broken inside I give you my life
I may be weak but your spirit strong in my my flesh may fail but God you never will
This is a song that replays in my head daily. We have been learning that wholeness requires a PURSUIT; passionately seeking with a heart of humility. Abandonment, Brokenness, and Dependence are the first three steps he is taking me through.
Abandonment– Things you let go of, sacrifice, obedience, control, giving of yourself for something better and not turning back. Things like Home, Family, what I do with my Time, Comforts, Measure of success, Plans and possible what Ministry should look like.
Biblical Examples: Job, Jesus, Paul, Ester, Disciples, Ruth
When we are in abandonment we have a choice we can turn away or we can press in and it will lead us to a place of brokenness before the Lord, which is the next step:
Brokenness-Humble before the Lord, Allowing God to be in complete control, acknowledging and releasing, surrendering, the things you depend on are gone, and its usually at the time when you say this is to hard I don’t want to do this any more.
Biblical Examples: Paul on the road to Damascus, Hagar, Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane
What are some of the things that get in the way of being broken? Perhaps Fear, Pride and Anger.
Dependence-Is when abandonment and brokenness turn into healing. Giving up control in every area. No longer fighting to be self sufficient and self reliant. Humility, submission, and surrendering.
Biblical Examples: Abraham, Sarah, Hosea
What Does God want you to abandon this year? Are you holding onto something that God wants you to abandon? How real are you before the Lord with Your brokenness? Do you even go their with him or is it time to do so? How desperate are you for wholeness? Are you willing to be humble enough to go there so he can do a work? Real question is do you trust him? Are you willing to give up control and depend on Him?
