Easter Sunday was 12 days ago. This is truly a wonderful day to celebrate. We celebrate life literally overcoming death. A day that does not simply symbolize resurrection, but the very act of resurrection took place. A day that does not simply symbolize hope, but a day that the hope of a promise took place. The very action of resurrection that gives us the hope of promise took place on this day. It seems like we got something right when we chose to take a day to celebrate this beautiful work.

You could feel it. You could feel it all across the world. You could hear all the believers of the Risen One praising Him. I could feel it in my veins as if we were all one body, with one common goal. This made me excited! This put so much joy in my heart! It was sweet. It was awesome. And it was genuine.

I was again reminded, that we as believers, we proclaim this as our very Gospel. We proclaim this as our very hope. That our God, the God of all creation, loves us enough to beat death for us.

Death, is all around us. Its everywhere. It’s a part of the life we live. It is a huge part of the very pattern of life. It seems to be that we see death happen around us, and we see death being chosen by people everyday, and we also find ourselves choosing death. i.e. with our attitudes, with our disobedience, or possibly just wanting to do our will rather than the Lord’s.

Point being, that death can image itself as a trap to us. We get stuck. We get stuck in the pattern of death and our mind conforms to that and we begin to only perceive things as death. What we seek, is what we will find. And when we seek to glorify ourselves, we will find ways to do it. We will tear others down, we will exalt ourselves, and we will begin to manipulate, and to lie, and try and control the situations around us to make ourselves feel more worthy.

We call that death. You are bringing death to the people around you and you are bringing death to yourself. You may be committing murder in the heart. murder is death.

I know, its all heavy right now, but I want to make sure there is an understanding of what I am talking about when I talk about death.

Again, what you seek, is what you will find. Now as Christians, what do we seek? We follow Christ, so we seek Christ. There are many things you could find, and will find, when you seek Christ. The biggest thing on my heart right now, is resurrection, and resurrection being our very hope that we hold true to. You see, our citizenship is in heaven, an eternal city, and the God who loves us is inviting us into this city. Oh, and, there’s nothing anyone can do to stop you from being there.

So, we begin to seek this. We begin to seek resurrection more and more, and start to find hope, more and more. And this hope that is overcoming death as you are reading this, as I am writing this, and as you will go on with the rest of your day, quite simply starts to become real.

Just as it was real the day that Jesus Christ was raised from the dead. And just as we had felt it was more real on the days that we had taken time to remember and celebrate this victorious day.

What you seek right now is how you will perceive the very world around you. The very interactions you are having with people, can be defined by death, or by hope. The choice is ours, seemingly so, by choosing what we seek.

And truly, the reason I write this, is because I have not, since Easter Sunday, seen anything posted by any of my friends (myself included) about ‘He is Risen.’ So it seems that we can understand that we have the choice to see this hope everyday, and I hope it becomes that. Or else we might begin to, unknowingly deny the resurrection and get caught in the trap that death holds us down.

I hope we begin to see that, the resurrection of Jesus Christ is real, and that it is for us. And I hope we do not go on living our lives denying the resurrection by allowing ourselves to be chained down. When we allow ourselves to stay chained, we are simply saying that Christ died for nothing. I hope, I truly hope, that we stop denying resurrection with our poor attitudes and how we view life because of this attitude.

When you choose Christ, you choose resurrection. You choose hope. I hope you choose a better Savior today.

Galatians 5:1

“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.”
